Why repair rather than replace?

Think about the hidden costs of a new bath: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. A repair is one job, done in one visit. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Why book with us

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • One price list for the whole UK
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

Keysoe Row: your questions answered

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes, we match coloured baths too. We tint the finish to your bath on site.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Typically, yes. The old repair comes out first.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

When can I have a bath again?

Usually within a day, though it depends on what we’ve done.

I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?

Yes, we do this frequently. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.

How it works

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. Once we are there, the work takes a few hours, depending on the damage in most cases. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, generally by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let us know about parking or access

Advice

Aftercare tips

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted

A repaired bath needs no special treatment, beyond gentle cleaning. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.

Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

For landlords and businesses

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Keysoe Row as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • The material and finish
  • How much damage there is
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Keysoe Row. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • What it’s made of, if you know
