How we handle bath repair in Killen

A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. We work on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic, and people most frequently call us about a cracked acrylic bath and scratches you can feel with a fingernail.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we have gone.

Bath enamel chip by the waste, filled and colour matched (before and after)

Do you need bath repair in Killen?

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.

Contact us if you’ve noticed any of these:

  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Rusty patches near the plughole

10 questions to ask before booking

Questions from Killen

Will I be able to see the repair?

We aim for a repair you cannot easily find. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference, and we’ll tell you what to expect.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, we often do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Is a bath repair durable?

Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It carries our one-year guarantee.

How long does the repair take to cure?

Generally within a day, though it depends on what we’ve done.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Honest limits

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

How to care for the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine, avoiding abrasives.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Killen use us as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we will handle the rest.

Repair or replace in Killen?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it takes one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

What you get with us

  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Most jobs done in one visit

The process

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we’re there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a few hours. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access

DIY kit or professional repair?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.
