Bath repair in Kingston, done in place

Repairing baths is what we do most. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Typical jobs include an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and rusty patches near the plughole, across pressed steel enamel, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee in Kingston and across Devon.

What a repair can’t fix

We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so these are the limits:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

Kingston questions

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Often, if there is access underneath. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. We tint the finish to your bath on site.

Do you come to Kingston?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Kingston for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

How long before I can use the bath?

Normally by the following day, depending on the repair.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Should you replace it?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, the panel may not fit the new one, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Access to the area

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from photos

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A picture taken from further back
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

To get a price, send two or three photos using our quote form or call us. We will say straight away if a repair is the right fix.

How it works

On the day itself, there is little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we will get on with it. The job generally runs to a few hours, including clearing up.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

How to get a price

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Related advice

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

For landlords and businesses

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Kingston use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

For anyone letting property in or around Kingston, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send pictures for each address and we will price them together.

Signs you need bath repair in Kingston

A cracked acrylic bath generally wasn’t supported properly. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the base flex until it cracks.

Look out for these signs:

  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
