Bath chip & crack repair in Kinninvie, County Durham
Chip and crack repairs to enamel, acrylic and cast iron baths at your home in Kinninvie, with a one-year guarantee on every repair.
- Repairs from £95
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
- Snagging damage from a refit

Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:
- How many areas need work
- Unusual colours or finishes
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- How many items we do on one visit
Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.
Quotes from your pictures
It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Try to send:
- A clear, close picture of the problem area
- Natural light rather than flash
- Where you are, by postcode
- One picture of the entire bath
You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.
Bath repair in Kinninvie without replacing anything
Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Common call-outs are for chips under the taps and scuffs and scratches in the surface, on cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic.
We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

Can I fix it myself?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
When a repair is not the answer
Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
- A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.
Materials we repair
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Acrylic
- Pressed steel enamel
- Cast iron enamel
- Whirlpool & spa baths

Your questions about bath repair in Kinninvie
Is there any odour?
It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.
How invisible is a bath repair?
On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.
How quickly can you book me in?
That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.
How long before I can use the bath?
Generally within a day, though it depends on what we’ve done.
Do you hold any accreditations?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.
Will you leave a mess?
Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.
Do you come to Kinninvie?
We do. Technicians travel to Kinninvie from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.
Repair or replace: which is better?
Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like is not cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Repairs by material
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
Acrylic
An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.
Keeping it looking good
Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:
- Have new chips seen to early
- Store metal items away from the bath
- Do not scrub with anything abrasive
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.
Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.
