Keeping it looking good

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

If water is getting through a crack, stop using the bath. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.

How we handle bath repair in Llanvair-Discoed

Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and you can typically bathe again the following day. You will not need a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. If you’re dealing with a chipped rim or side and chips under the taps, we can help, on acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and pressed steel enamel alike.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee.

What we can’t put right

A repair isn’t right for every job, including:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel

Why repair rather than replace?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Why Llanvair-Discoed customers choose us

  • Everything repaired in place
  • One price list for the entire UK
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Typically one visit, start to finish

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

What happens on the day

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow two to three hours for most chips. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Open a window if you can

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

How we price bath repair

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How much damage there is
  • What the surface is made of
  • How many items we do on one visit

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed price

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.
