Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Bath repair at your home in Mynydd-bach

A damaged bath doesn’t have to mean a new bathroom. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. Our technicians work on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are chips caused by builders and scuffs and scratches in the surface.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Keeping it looking good

Looking after the surface is easy:

  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it

There is nothing special to do after a repair, just sensible cleaning. Skip bleach and gritty creams and give it a rinse after each bath.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water can’t get in. Take it off before we arrive.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Your questions about bath repair in Mynydd-bach

How do I book?

Send photos through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

How invisible is a bath repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners in Mynydd-bach.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Frequently, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a picture.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Repairing versus replacing in Mynydd-bach

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Prices start from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Why book with us

  • One price list for the entire UK
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Everything repaired in place

How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. On site, it takes a few hours, depending on the damage in most cases. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Getting a price

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.

Advice

What we cannot put right

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.

What we work on

  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding

What we are called out for in Mynydd-bach

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Over time, chips and rust spots are almost inevitable.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Chips under the taps
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Snagging damage from a refit

What your quote should include

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • Who will actually do the work
  • What happens if they find more damage
