Bath repair near Lumby

Bath repair in Lumby, done in place

You do not need a new bath because of a chip. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, mixing the colour on the day so the repair is hard to spot. We’re often asked to fix a chip where the taps sit and hairline or through cracks in acrylic, across acrylic, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

Questions from Lumby

Do you do work for letting agents?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

What areas do you cover?

The entire UK, including all of Leeds. Just include your postcode and we will offer you dates.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes, we match coloured baths too. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Most of the time. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. There’s no area surcharge for Lumby. The price reflects:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • The type of damage
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How hard the colour is to match

Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Quotes from your photos

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

Most clients in Lumby get their price from pictures. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Do you need bath repair in Lumby?

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, closely followed by shower heads. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Holes from dropped items

Questions to ask before booking

  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included
  • How long it needs to cure

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, just like other baths.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

Why book with us

  • Accredited with CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

What we do, step by step

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, protect the area, then carry out the work, which normally takes two to three hours for most chips. If anything looks different from your pictures, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

How to care for the repair

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted

A repaired bath needs no special treatment, beyond gentle cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and rinse after use.

Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
