Bath repair in Maida Vale, done in place

Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a repair that is smooth, sound and hard to spot. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it’s level with the surrounding surface. Our repair technicians work on roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and acrylic, and people most frequently call us about scratches you can feel with a fingernail and a chipped rim or side.

Every repair is covered by our one-year guarantee.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We’d rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Surfaces we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel

How the visit works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes two to three hours for most chips. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work

Questions from Maida Vale

Do you cover Maida Vale?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Maida Vale. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners in Maida Vale.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

How do I book?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

What does bath repair cost?

Repairs from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You will get a fixed figure before you book.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.

Repair or replace: which is better?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

Common problems we fix in Maida Vale

Rust tends to begin where water collects, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Chips caused by builders
  • An old repair that has yellowed or come loose
  • A hole punched through by something heavy

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so early repair saves time and money.

Work for landlords and builders

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.
