When to call us in Manor House

A cracked acrylic bath generally wasn’t supported properly. Legs that aren’t adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the bath move.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Damage beneath the taps
  • Holes from dropped items
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath

What your quote should include

  • When it can be used again
  • What prep work is covered
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • A fixed quote, and whether VAT is included

Choosing a repair company

Bath repair in Manor House, done in place

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We are often asked to fix rust spots around the plughole and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting, in cast iron enamel, roll-top & freestanding and acrylic.

Every job is backed for twelve months. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Rusty chip next to a bath plughole, before and after repair

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • How many areas need work
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Doing more than one item at once

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Manor House. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any details about the material
  • Something in shot to show the size

If you’re in Manor House and want a price, photos are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Looking after it afterwards

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

What we cannot put right

A repair is not right for every job, for example:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • A steel bath rusted through

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel

Repair or replace: which is better?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Prices start from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

How the visit works

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a few hours from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

How to prepare

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Open a window if you can
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Advice

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

FAQs for Manor House

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we’ll plan for it.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Doing several items on one visit generally costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

In most cases. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, very frequently. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

What happens next?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes, we match coloured baths too. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.
