About our bath repair in Mill Hill

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Our technicians work on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding, and common reasons people contact us are chips under the taps and a kit repair that didn’t last.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Landlord and trade work in Mill Hill

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Blackburn with Darwen and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which is easier on the people living there.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Common questions in Mill Hill

Can you quote from pictures?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

When can you do it?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes, coloured baths are no problem. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

What does bath repair cost?

Repairs from £95. Every job gets a fixed quote from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your BB2 postcode.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Will the repair show?

On a glossy bath, you will struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and you’ll get one combined price.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted.

When to call us in Mill Hill

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, with dropped shower heads close behind. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

It’s worth getting a quote if you see:

  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail

Questions to ask before booking

  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

How to compare quotes

Repairing versus replacing in Mill Hill

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why book with us

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Colour mixed on the day to match

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

The process

We turn up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

Advice

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Looking after it afterwards

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts

A repaired bath needs no special treatment. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Honest limits

In fairness, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.
