Bath repair near Newingreen

How we handle bath repair in Newingreen

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. Common call-outs are for a hole punched through by something heavy and rust by the waste and overflow, on cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and roll-top & freestanding.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • How easy the damage is to reach

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Send photos for a quote

When you take your pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Honest limits

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping a damaged bath for a new one typically means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and disposing of the old one. A repair fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Prices start from £95. We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, just like other baths.

For landlords and businesses

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Your questions about bath repair in Newingreen

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. You decide whether to go ahead.

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes, we do this frequently. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

Will the repair last?

Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

Are there extra charges for Newingreen?

We don’t add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Normally, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a picture.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes, we match coloured baths too. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

How it works

When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes two to three hours for most chips. We clean up when we’re done and let you know when you can use it again.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Simple care helps the repair last. Our advice:

  • Put a towel in the bath if you are working above it
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.
