About our bath repair in North Common

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Our technicians work on pressed steel enamel, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel, and the jobs we see most are chips caused by builders and a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

Repair or replace in North Common?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Our bath repair starts from £95. Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why us?

  • No extra charge for your area
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • One visit for most repairs

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

What affects the price in North Common

Prices start from £95. You will not pay by the hour. The price depends on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

How to get a fixed price

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Any details about the material
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

The quickest way to a price is to send two or three photos using our quote form or ring us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

When to call us in North Common

A cracked acrylic bath usually wasn’t supported properly. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the base flex until the acrylic gives way.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail

Before booking anyone

  • How long it needs to cure
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Aftercare advice
  • How the room is protected while they work

Honest limits

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel

What we do, step by step

We begin by going over the job with you, so there are no surprises. After that, protection goes down around the work area and we start. It normally takes a few hours.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated

Getting a price

How to care for the repair

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath, avoiding abrasives.

Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

Questions from North Common

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes, very frequently. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

In most cases. Photos of the hole and the underside help us check.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

What areas do you cover?

All of South Gloucestershire, and the rest of the UK. Travel is included in the price.

What do you need from me?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
