Bath repair near Northend

About our bath repair in Northend

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the day after. There is no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath does not move. Common call-outs are for a kit repair that didn’t last and chips caused by builders, in roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Northend, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send pictures for each address and we will come back with a combined price.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple:

  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, clean it as you would the rest of the bath without abrasive products.

Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What the surface is made of
  • How many areas need work

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book.

How to get a fixed price

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The material, if you know it

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of photos using our quote form or call us. We’ll say straight away if a repair is the right fix.

When we’d advise against a repair

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic

Why repair rather than replace?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

What you get with us

  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

How it works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together, so there are no surprises. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. Allow two to three hours for most chips, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. We match both the colour and the shine.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Getting a price

There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Common questions in Northend

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

What areas do you cover?

Across the UK. Prices do not change with location.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

Can you quote from photos?

Normally, yes. Clear pictures let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied. It fades as everything cures.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.
