Bath repair in Nunhead

Bath repair in Nunhead without replacing anything

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We’re frequently asked to fix rust spots around the plughole and deep scratches in acrylic, on roll-top & freestanding, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Greater London.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

When we’d advise against a repair

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.

Choosing a repair company

Nunhead: your questions answered

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

What areas do you cover?

Across the UK, and that includes Nunhead. Prices do not change with location.

Do you come to Nunhead?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Nunhead. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is a bath repair durable?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

What happens after I send photos?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed price and some dates. If anything’s unclear, we will ask for another photo.

Is there any odour?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Typically. Send us a picture of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

What happens on the day

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes a few hours, depending on the damage. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

Repair or replace in Nunhead?

Replacing a fitted bath normally involves a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and getting rid of the old bath. A repair deals only with the damage in one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why Nunhead customers choose us

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing

Read our prices page and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. We price every job individually, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Access to the area

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.

How to get a fixed quote

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To help us price it:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Where you are, by postcode

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath

A repaired bath needs no special treatment. Skip bleach and gritty creams and give it a rinse after each bath.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.
