Bath repair at your home in Ovingham

Whatever has happened to the bath, we aim for the same result: a repair that’s smooth, sound and hard to spot. Proper preparation, careful filling and shaping, then colour and gloss matching so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. If you’re dealing with chips caused by builders and hairline or through cracks in acrylic, we can typically put it right.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Should you replace it?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Prices start from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

For landlords and businesses

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. We can visit several plots in one trip.

What happens on the day

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can normally use the bath the next day.

Advice

FAQs for Ovingham

Do I have to be there?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Will it make a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including pastel and older colours.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You will get a fixed quote back, usually with dates to choose from. You’re under no obligation.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we’ll agree a date.

What we’re called out for in Ovingham

Baths take more knocks than people expect: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and fittings press hard against the enamel. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.

Customers generally contact us about:

  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Chips under the taps
  • A cracked acrylic bath
  • Snagging damage from a refit

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers

10 questions to ask before booking

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed price from photos. These are the things that affect it:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • What the surface is made of
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How much damage there is

A repair normally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Send photos for a quote

You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • The material, if you know it
  • Something in shot to show the size

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Looking after it afterwards

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine without abrasive products.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so early repair keeps the cost down.

When a repair is not the answer

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
