Bath repair in Ovington

Signs you need bath repair in Ovington

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else, with dropped shower heads close behind. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • Impact holes in acrylic
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Scratches you can feel with a fingernail

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • How soon you can use it again

Our hiring checklist

How we handle bath repair in Ovington

We’ve repaired just about every kind of bath damage: chips from dropped bottles, rust round the plughole, cracks in acrylic and holes from falling tools. Each is repaired in place with a one-year guarantee. Common call-outs are for holes from dropped items and a chip where the taps sit, across acrylic, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Repairing versus replacing in Ovington

A new bath brings a chain of other jobs: tiles along the rim typically crack when it comes out, a new panel is frequently needed, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. Repairing the damage avoids all of that. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Why us?

What we cannot put right

We will not take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

How the visit works

Arrival times are agreed in advance. Once we are there, the work takes a few hours. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, typically by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Advice

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Give the bath a quick rinse after use
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and avoid dropping heavy items on the repaired area. Deal with new chips early, before rust can start.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Ovington. The price depends on:

  • The material and finish
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Access to the area

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Ovington. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Most customers in Ovington get their price from photos. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.
