Bath repair in Pen-y-bryn

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber
  • A steel bath rusted through

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic

About our bath repair in Pen-y-bryn

Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Our repair technicians work on whirlpool & spa baths, acrylic and pressed steel enamel, and common reasons people contact us are a cracked acrylic bath and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

For landlords and businesses

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Do you need bath repair in Pen-y-bryn?

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: bottles, shower heads, tiles and tools. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal will start to rust.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • Holes from dropped items

What your quote should include

  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Who turns up on the day
  • What preparation is included

10 questions to ask before booking

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

How the visit works

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you’re not left guessing. On site, it takes a few hours, depending on the damage. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Open a window if you can

Advice

Questions from Pen-y-bryn

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the whole UK, including Pen-y-bryn and the rest of Ceredigion. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.

What information do you need?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Can you repair a crack in an acrylic bath?

Often, yes, as long as we can get to the back of the crack to support it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.

Will the repair last?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Typically, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There’s no charge for travel to Pen-y-bryn. The price comes down to:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material and finish
  • How much damage there is
  • What kind of damage it is

No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: the tiles sitting on the rim tend to break, a new panel is often needed, and the plumbing has to be disconnected and refitted. A repair skips all of it. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Aftercare tips

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Don’t leave razors or cans standing in the bath
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted

Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so it pays to deal with it early.
