Bath resealing in Pen-y-bryn without replacing anything

The key to a good reseal is getting all of the old silicone out. New silicone will not bond to old, which is why so many DIY reseals peel. If you’re dealing with water getting behind the bath or tray and gaps in the seal, we can help.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Pen-y-bryn and across Ceredigion.

Do you need bath resealing in Pen-y-bryn?

A bathroom without good ventilation is hard on sealant: moisture sits on the joints longer, and mould grows faster.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • Stained silicone
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • A messy previous reseal
  • Black spots in the silicone

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, once the joint is completely dry.

Trays are sealed with weight on them, for the same reason.

Common questions in Pen-y-bryn

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

Never over old. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

Which areas do you work in?

We work UK-wide. Our prices are the same everywhere.

What happens after I send photos?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote with dates.

How much does bath resealing cost in Pen-y-bryn?

We give a fixed price based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. If pictures do not show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. The rest of the house is unaffected.

What bath resealing costs

There is no charge for travel to Pen-y-bryn. The price comes down to:

  • Access to the area
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Quotes from your photos

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath or shower, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing costs very little. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

How the visit works

The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the work takes around two hours. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
