About our bath repair in Pickford

Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and the bath is back in use the day after. There is no need to book a plumber or tiler, because the bath does not move. If you’re dealing with a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and cracks in an acrylic bath, we can help.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

What your bath is made of matters

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Pickford. The price comes down to:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What the surface is made of
  • How hard the colour is to match

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Send pictures for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • One picture of the entire bath
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Most clients in Pickford get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

Aftercare tips

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted

Don’t leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

What we are called out for in Pickford

Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, any chip down to the metal will start to rust.

Common reasons people in Pickford contact us are:

  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Chips on the rim or sides

What to look for in a quote

  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • How to care for the finish

Repairing versus replacing in Pickford

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: they’re very heavy to remove, especially upstairs, and a like-for-like replacement can be expensive. A repair keeps it in place. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

What you get with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

Take a look at our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

What we can’t put right

We’ll always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

How it works

Your technician turns up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
