Bath repair in Reading

DIY kit or professional repair?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Bath repair in Reading without replacing anything

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, generally in a single visit. Typical jobs include holes from dropped items and cracks in an acrylic bath, across cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

How to care for the repair

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.

When a repair is not the answer

It helps to know what we cannot do too:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Common problems we fix in Reading

Many chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, and the damage isn’t always spotted until later. Snagging repairs like these are a regular job for us.

Clients typically contact us about:

How to compare quotes

How the visit works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a morning or an afternoon, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the next day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Let us know about parking or access

Getting a price

Your questions about bath repair in Reading

What about rust by the waste?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. We take it back to sound metal, seal it, fill it and match the colour.

How do I get a price for bath repair in Reading?

Repairs from £95. We give a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo and your postcode.

Will the price change on the day?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. You decide whether to go ahead.

How soon can you come?

That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.

What happens after I send pictures?

We come back with a fixed quote, plus dates. You’re under no obligation.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the photos cannot show what we need.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

In most cases. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so access behind the panel is important.

Is a bath repair durable?

Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It carries our one-year guarantee.

For landlords and businesses

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Wokingham and across the UK. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. Prices are worked out job by job. The main factors are:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The material
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from pictures

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we will come back with a fixed figure.

Different materials, different repairs

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour matched, in much the same way.

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.
