Bath repair for West Reading homes

How we handle bath repair in West Reading

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath. You can typically use the bath the next day. Our repair technicians work on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding, and people most often call us about snagging damage from a refit and chips along the edge of the bath.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in West Reading and across Reading.

Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

What happens on the day

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and the work begins. You can expect it to take a few hours, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • How many areas need work
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What the surface is made of
  • The type of damage

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Send pictures for a quote

You can typically get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can give you a fixed quote the same day in most cases.

Should you replace it?

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Normally it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Our bath repair starts from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing normally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

What you get with us

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

Landlords, agents and businesses in West Reading

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Reading and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Honest limits

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Looking after it afterwards

So the finish stays in good condition for years:

  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine without abrasive products.

A chip on a metal bath shouldn’t be left. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
