About our bath repair in Rhyd-y-groes
A damaged bath does not have to mean a new bathroom. We fill the damage, shape it to the curve of the bath and refinish it, with the colour mixed on site. Our technicians work on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and acrylic, and common reasons people get in touch are chips caused by builders and chips on the rim or sides.
Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

What a repair can’t fix
It helps to know what we can’t do:
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
- Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
- Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Repairs by material
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They don’t rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, especially around the waste, so repair chips early.
Can I fix it myself?
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.
Repair or replace in Rhyd-y-groes?
A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
Why us?
- One visit for most repairs
- Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
- A year’s guarantee on all work
- Free fixed quotes from pictures

How the visit works
Once we’re through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a few hours, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.
- We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
- The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
- We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
- Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
- We leave it to cure; you can generally use the bath the next day.
Preparing for the visit
- Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Let us know if it has been repaired before

Common problems we fix in Rhyd-y-groes
Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Acrylic baths crack for a different reason: the bath isn’t properly supported, so it flexes under weight.
The things customers generally mention when they call are:
- Rust spots around the plughole
- Snagging damage from a refit
- Deep scratches in acrylic
- A hole punched through by something heavy
Questions to ask before you book
- How the room is protected while they work
- What the guarantee covers, and for how long
- Whether the price covers travel
- How soon you can use it again
For landlords and businesses
We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.
Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
How to look after the repair
So the finish stays in good condition for years:
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
- Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.
If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.
