About our bath repair in Saint Andras

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Whether it’s chips under the taps and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, we can help, whatever the material.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

Aftercare tips

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

Look after the repair the same way as the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water can’t get in. Remove it before the repair.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it doesn’t: a proper repair gives it years more use, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Prices start from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before booking.

Why us?

  • One visit for most repairs
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

Saint Andras: your questions answered

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes, we do this often. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Do you work in Saint Andras?

We do. Technicians travel to Saint Andras from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You do not need to watch us work.

Do you hold any accreditations?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.

Is my repair covered?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Saint Andras

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we will handle the rest.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Saint Andras. What changes the price is:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many areas need work

Compared with replacing, repairing typically costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

How to get a fixed quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can give you a fixed price.

The process

Here’s how a visit normally runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for two to three hours for most chips from start to finish. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Advice

What we cannot put right

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before you book.
