Bath repair for Scatsta homes

How it works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we’re there. We protect the area first, then the work takes a morning or an afternoon. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We protect the bath and the floor around it.
  2. The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
  3. Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the following day.

How to prepare

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Bath repair in Scatsta without replacing anything

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. We’re often asked to fix chips caused by builders and a cracked acrylic bath, on cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it.

Repairs by material

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Common questions in Scatsta

Will the repair show?

The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath.

Will you leave a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it is not worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Can you redo an old repair?

Yes, we do this often. The old material comes out, any rust is treated, then we repair it properly.

How quickly can you book me in?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Does someone need to be in?

We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Do you come to Scatsta?

We do. Repair technicians travel to Scatsta from across the region, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote with dates.

For landlords and businesses

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details.

When we would advise against a repair

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair won’t fix:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Do not leave a fresh chip for long
  • Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning

There’s nothing special to do after a repair, beyond gentle cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and give it a rinse after each bath.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.

How we price bath repair

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How easy the damage is to reach

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Getting a price from pictures

You can take the photos on your phone. Make sure they show:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath

If you are in Scatsta and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Why repair rather than replace?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the entire surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Our bath repair starts from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Scatsta. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
