How we handle bath repair in Scosthrop
Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. Typical jobs include impact holes in acrylic and snagging damage from a refit, across acrylic, roll-top & freestanding and cast iron enamel.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

How the visit works
When we visit, we arrive at the time we have agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take two to three hours for most chips. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.
- First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
- We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
- We leave it to cure; you can normally use the bath the following day.
Before we arrive
- Ensure the area is dry
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Clear the area around the damage

Advice
Repair or replace: which is better?
Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally involves a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and disposing of the old one. A repair fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.
Why book with us

Landlord and trade work in Scosthrop
Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
Do you need bath repair in Scosthrop?
Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On steel and cast iron baths, any chip down to the metal lets water in, and rust follows.
These are the problems we are asked about most:
- Chips on the rim or sides
- A kit repair that didn’t last
- A chip where the taps sit
- A hole punched through by something heavy
What your quote should include
- What aftercare is recommended
- How the room is protected while they work
- Whether the price covers travel
- What the guarantee covers, and for how long

Common questions in Scosthrop
Will the repair show?
On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.
How do I book?
Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, we only need access to the room.
Which areas do you work in?
The whole UK, including all of North Yorkshire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we’ll confirm dates.
Is there a guarantee?
Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.
Is it messy?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and tidy up before we leave.
Are you a vetted contractor?
Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. The full list is on our accreditations page.
Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?
Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.
When can you do it?
That depends on our diary for your area. We will offer you dates when we send your quote.
What we can’t put right
We’d rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
- A steel bath rusted through
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before booking.
What we work on
- Pressed steel enamel
- Cast iron enamel
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Acrylic
- Roll-top & freestanding
Keeping it looking good
Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:
- Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
- Use a soft cloth and washing-up liquid for everyday cleaning
- Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
- If an acrylic bath flexes, have its feet adjusted
In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine without abrasive products.
Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Water under the bath can damage the floor and the ceiling below.
