How we handle bath repair in Scotland
Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. Nothing is unplumbed, the tiles are not touched, and the repaired area is colour-matched so it blends in. Typical jobs include rusty patches near the plughole and a chip where the taps sit, in roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.
Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee.

When we’d advise against a repair
We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
- A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Aftercare tips
Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- Do not leave razors or cans standing in the bath
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs. Avoid scourers and gritty cream cleaners.
Stop using the bath if a crack lets water through until it’s repaired. Leaks under a bath can damage floors and ceilings.
What we do, step by step
On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. Expect it to take a few hours, depending on the damage. We tidy up before we leave and let you know when you can use it again.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We tidy up and tell you when the bath can be used, normally the day after.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

How we price bath repair
Repairs from £95. There’s no area surcharge for Scotland. The price reflects:
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- How many items we do on one visit
- How hard the colour is to match
- The material and finish
We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.
How to get a fixed quote
When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:
- One picture of the entire bath
- Any details about the material
- Details of any past repairs
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
Upload a picture of the damage and one of the entire item, with your LS18 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.
Why repair rather than replace?
Swapping a damaged bath for a new one typically means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and getting rid of the old bath. Repairing it deals only with the damage in one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A repair generally costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

When to call us in Scotland
Nearly all the chips we see start with something being dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On steel and cast iron baths, any chip down to the metal lets water in, and rust follows.
The most common problems we’re called about are:
- Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
- Scuffs and scratches in the surface
- Chips along the edge of the bath
- Holes from dropped items
What to look for in a quote
- What protection goes down before work starts
- How to look after the finish
- Whether a trained technician does the job
- Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

Different materials, different repairs
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.
Pressed steel
Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.
Can I fix it myself?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, then guarantee it for a year.
Common questions in Scotland
What happens if you find more damage?
It’s rare, but if it happens we talk to you first. The price only changes if you agree.
Do you charge for travel?
There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.
Can you price it without visiting?
Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.
How do I get a price for bath repair in Scotland?
Prices start from £95. We give a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item and your postcode.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.
Will it make a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.
Are you accredited?
Yes, including CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.
