Bath repair in Cookridge

Bath repair in Cookridge without replacing anything

Whatever the damage, the aim is the same: a repair that’s smooth, sound and hard to spot. We prepare the area properly, fill and shape it, then match the colour and gloss so it sits flush with the rest of the bath. Common call-outs are for chips on the rim or sides and scuffs and scratches in the surface, in cast iron enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and pressed steel enamel.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it.

Common questions in Cookridge

Do I need to be at home?

We need someone to let us in. You do not need to watch us work.

How do I book?

Just photos, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Do you cover Cookridge?

We do. We send a technician to Cookridge for every job, with no extra charge for travel.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Often, if there is access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can you price it without visiting?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed price.

Will the repair last?

Yes, if it’s prepared properly and the bath is sound. It carries our one-year guarantee.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth

There’s nothing special to do after a repair, just sensible cleaning. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners.

Until we visit, a strip of waterproof tape over the damage helps, so water can’t get in. Remove it before the repair.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.

DIY kit or professional repair?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

What happens on the day

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes two to three hours for most chips, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Make sure the area is dry

Repair or replace: which is better?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Prices start from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Everything repaired in place

What we cannot put right

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The type of damage
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing usually costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Try to send:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire bath, we can give you a fixed price without visiting.
