Bath repair for Sennen homes

About our bath repair in Sennen

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all repaired in place, normally in one visit. Our technicians work on pressed steel enamel, cast iron enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and people most frequently call us about a hole punched through by something heavy and chips along the edge of the bath.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Repair or replace: which is better?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. Where the entire surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Our bath repair starts from £95. Compared with replacing, repairing normally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

Sennen: your questions answered

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Is a bath repair durable?

A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps it last.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

How long before I can use the bath?

Normally by the following day, though it depends on what we have done.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Do you need bath repair in Sennen?

Rust usually starts where water sits, around the waste, under the taps or in an old chip. Once water reaches the steel or iron, rust spreads under the enamel.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • Chips under the taps
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • Rusty patches near the plughole

Our hiring checklist

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Composite and resin

Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid, and frequently freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, just like other baths.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

The process

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It generally takes two to three hours for most chips, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

How to prepare

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Let us know about parking or access

Related advice

What a repair cannot fix

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we’d rather say so up front. We can’t fix:

  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A steel bath rusted through

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Sennen. The price comes down to:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • What the surface is made of
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How much damage there is

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Send pictures for a quote

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • What it’s made of, if you know

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and we’ll come back with a fixed figure.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Sennen

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Sennen as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets can’t afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

How to care for the repair

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine without abrasive products.

If an acrylic bath has a crack, stop showering in it until it’s repaired. Every use opens the crack a little more, and water can get through to the floor below.
