Repair or replace in Polgigga?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and the bathroom stays as it is. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we will tell you. Our bath repair starts from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. The quote lists exactly what you are paying for.

What you get with us

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • No need to remove anything
  • Normally one visit, start to finish
  • No extra charge for your area

See our full price list and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple:

  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Don’t scrub with anything abrasive

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

When to call us in Polgigga

A bath gets knocked about more than you’d think: everyday items get dropped into it all the time, and taps and wastes are tightened against the surface. Sooner or later, most baths pick up a chip.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • A hole punched through by something heavy
  • Chips on the rim or sides
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Rust spots around the plughole

What your quote should include

  • How to care for the finish
  • How the colour is matched
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • What protection goes down before work starts

How to compare quotes

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

How it works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which generally takes a few hours, depending on the damage. If anything looks different from your photos, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. The colour is mixed on the spot to match your bath.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Keep a parking space free if you can

Ask for a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Advice

FAQs for Polgigga

Will there be a smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes, for a year. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

Will the repair show?

We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference.

What does bath repair cost?

Repairs from £95. Because every job differs, we price from photos. You will get a fixed figure before you book.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Frequently, if there’s access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

What a repair cannot fix

A repair is not right for every job, for example:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We give every job a fixed price from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The material and finish
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The colour and finish to match

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Polgigga. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

Good pictures mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:

  • A wider photo showing the entire bath
  • Any details about the material
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Most customers in Polgigga get their price from pictures. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in Polgigga, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Send pictures for each one and we will come back with a combined price.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there’s no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip.
