Bath repair at your home in Shadwell
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Whether it’s snagging damage from a refit and a hole punched through by something heavy, we can help, on cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths alike.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we’ve gone.

The process
Once we’re through the door, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. We mask off everything nearby, the job takes a few hours, depending on the damage, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.
- Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
- The damaged area is cleaned, keyed and degreased, and any rust is treated.
- Filler goes in and is sanded flush once it has set.
- Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
- We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the day after.
Getting ready for the visit
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Make sure the area is dry

Should you replace it?
Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Prices start from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. We give a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Questions from Shadwell
Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?
Frequently, if there’s access underneath. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.
Is a bath repair permanent?
A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and ours come with a one-year guarantee. Gentle cleaning helps it last.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.
Can you fix rust around the plughole?
Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.
When can you do it?
Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.
Can you repair a failed DIY repair?
Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Tell us about it when you send photos.
Can I add another job to the visit?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit usually costs less than separate visits. Include pictures of each item.
Can you quote from pictures?
In nearly every case. If pictures don’t show enough, we’ll ask for another angle.

Repairs by material
Acrylic
Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Composite and resin
Stone resin and composite baths are heavy and solid. Chips and scratches are filled and matched, in much the same way.
Common problems we fix in Shadwell
Damage during fitting is very common. Tools, tiles and fittings get dropped into the bath, and the damage is not always spotted until later. We repair snagging damage like this regularly.
Common reasons people in Shadwell contact us are:
- A cracked acrylic bath
- Holes from dropped items
- A kit repair that didn’t last
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
What your quote should include
- How the room is protected while they work
- Aftercare advice
- How long it needs to cure
- What the guarantee covers, and for how long
Can I fix it myself?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.
What we cannot put right
A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We can’t fix:
- Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
- Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
- A whole bath that’s dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix
Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.
Surfaces we repair
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Whirlpool & spa baths
- Cast iron enamel
- Acrylic
- Pressed steel enamel
Looking after it afterwards
Looking after the surface is easy:
- Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
- Don’t scrub with anything abrasive
- Have new chips seen to early
- Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.
Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
