Bath repair in Shadwell, done in place
Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. Our repair technicians work on acrylic, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and the jobs we see most are chips on the rim or sides and chips caused by builders.
All our work comes with a one-year guarantee.

Repair or replace: which is better?
Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally means a plumber, removing the old bath, making good the tiles and panel and getting rid of the old bath. A repair fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Prices start from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Your questions about bath repair in Shadwell
How long does the repair take to cure?
Generally the next day. We confirm the time before we leave.
Will it make a mess?
We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.
Is a bath repair durable?
It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.
Will the repair show?
We aim for a repair you can’t easily find. The rest of the bath’s condition makes a difference, and we’ll tell you what to expect.
Is the work guaranteed?
Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.
Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?
Often, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Check under the bath panel, or send us a photo.
What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?
We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.
It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?
Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.
What we can’t put right
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
- Rust that has eaten right through a steel bath
- Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.
Materials we repair
- Acrylic
- Pressed steel enamel
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Cast iron enamel
- Whirlpool & spa baths
DIY kit or professional repair?
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
What we are called out for in Shadwell
Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: the bath isn’t properly supported, so it flexes under weight.
Most people contact us after spotting something like this:
- Rust by the waste and overflow
- Scratches you can feel with a fingernail
- A cracked acrylic bath
- A chipped rim or side
Questions to ask before booking
- How your room will be protected
- Whether they match the colour on site
- How long the guarantee is and what it covers
- When it can be used again
What bath repair costs
Repairs from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Shadwell. The price depends on:
- What kind of damage it is
- How hard the colour is to match
- How much damage there is
- Doing more than one item at once
We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.
Send pictures for a quote
Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. Try to include:
- One picture of the whole bath
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- One sharp close-up of the damage
- Details of any past repairs
Email us a picture of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you are in Shadwell, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.
How to care for the repair
Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:
- Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
- Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
- Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
A repaired bath needs no special treatment. Avoid bleach-based and gritty cleaners and give it a rinse after each bath.
Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, turning a quick repair into a bigger one.

What happens on the day
You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It typically takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.
- We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
- We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
- We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
- Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
- Once it has cured, typically by the day after, the bath is ready to use.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
Getting a price

Repairs by material
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Cast iron
Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. Chips can rust if left, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.
