About our bath repair in Shreding Green
Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. We’re often asked to fix a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and chips on the rim or sides, on whirlpool & spa baths, cast iron enamel and roll-top & freestanding.
Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Should you replace it?
Swapping a damaged bath for a new one normally involves a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and getting rid of the old bath. Repairing it deals only with the damage in one visit. Our bath repair starts from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

DIY kit or professional repair?
The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
How to look after the repair
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
- Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
- Put a towel in the bath if you’re working above it
- Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
Do not leave razors, cans or hair grips in the bath, as they can leave rust marks. And fix dripping taps promptly.
Don’t leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

Prices and what affects them
Repairs from £95. There is no charge for travel to Shreding Green. The price depends on:
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- The material
- The colour and finish to match
- The type of damage
A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.
Quotes from your pictures
Before you send photos, a few simple things make all the difference:
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
There is no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.
What we do, step by step
We turn up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and we leave the room as we found it.
- We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
- Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
Before we arrive
- Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Keep a parking space free if you can
How to get a price
Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.
Related advice
Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Honest limits
Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:
- Wear across the entire surface, which needs re-enamelling
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
- Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
