Trusted bath repair in Skelton

Bath repair in Skelton without replacing anything

We repair enamelled steel, cast iron and acrylic baths. The method changes with the material: rust is treated on metal baths, while cracks in acrylic are reinforced from underneath. We are frequently asked to fix chips along the edge of the bath and a hole punched through by something heavy, in roll-top & freestanding, cast iron enamel and acrylic.

All our work comes with our one-year guarantee.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and a crack only stays repaired if it’s supported underneath.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

How to look after the repair

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface
  • Do not scrub with anything abrasive
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before using the bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so it pays to deal with it early.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

Should you replace it?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Skelton. The price comes down to:

  • Access to the area
  • How many areas need work
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Skelton questions

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and we clean up when we have finished.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the whole UK, including Skelton and the rest of Cumbria. Just include your postcode and we will confirm dates.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Send pictures of everything together and we’ll quote them together.

When can you do it?

That depends on our diary for your area. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

What we do, step by step

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take a morning or an afternoon, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

How to prepare
