About our bath repair in Spaxton

Bath repair is our most common job. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in one visit. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, acrylic and roll-top & freestanding, and common reasons people contact us are deep scratches in acrylic and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are not left on your own once we have gone.

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Check that an acrylic bath does not move when you stand in it
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating

A repaired bath needs no special treatment, beyond gentle cleaning. Skip bleach and gritty creams and rinse after use.

Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Once water reaches the metal, rust begins, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.

Your questions about bath repair in Spaxton

How long does the repair take to cure?

Generally the day after. We confirm the time before we leave.

How soon can you come?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Do you cover Spaxton?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and come to Spaxton and the rest of Somerset. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?

Typically, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.

Will the repair show?

The goal is a repair that blends in. How well it disappears depends on the condition of the rest of the bath, and we’ll tell you what to expect.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

What happens on the day

You don’t need to empty the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you’re happy with the plan. Most jobs take a few hours, depending on the damage, and you can get on with other things while we’re there.

  1. Dust sheets and masking go down around the bath.
  2. We clean, key and degrease the damage.
  3. We fill it, let it set, then sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched to the surrounding surface.
  5. We clear up and give you the curing time, normally until the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Getting a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a fitted bath generally means a plumber, removing the old bath, re-tiling and a new panel and disposing of the old one. Repairing it fixes just the damaged area in a single visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. Damage, material and access decide it.

Why us?

  • One visit for most repairs
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK
  • Colour-matched on site
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. They do not rust, but they can crack, scratch or be holed, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. There is no area surcharge for Spaxton. The price reflects:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How many areas need work
  • The material
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Quotes from your photos

When you take your pictures, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

There is no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

What we cannot put right

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Metal that has corroded all the way through
  • Acrylic cracks with no access behind them
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Spaxton

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we will arrange it.

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.
