Bath repair in Steen's Bridge

Bath repair in Steen's Bridge, done in place

Repairing baths is what we do most. A chip by the taps, a crack in the base and a rust spot by the plughole are all fixed without removing the bath, usually in a single visit. Our technicians work on roll-top & freestanding, pressed steel enamel and acrylic, and the jobs we see most are holes from dropped items and hairline or through cracks in acrylic.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Honest limits

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • A bath that moves underfoot, until its support is fixed
  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel

Can I fix it myself?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Steen's Bridge: your questions answered

Can you fix rust around the plughole?

Yes, it’s one of the most common repairs we do. The rust is cut back to clean metal and sealed before we fill and finish it.

How do I get a price for bath repair in Steen's Bridge?

Prices start from £95. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

How soon can you come?

We will give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we will do what we can.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Is a repair better than a new one?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Are there extra charges for Steen's Bridge?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. The back of the crack is strengthened before the front is filled and refinished, so we need access under the bath.

How long before I can use the bath?

Normally within a day, though it depends on what we have done.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Steen's Bridge

Housing associations and facilities teams use us for planned and reactive repairs in Herefordshire and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

Signs you need bath repair in Steen's Bridge

Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Loose legs, no proper cradle or a floor that gives let the bath move until it cracks.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • Scuffs and scratches in the surface
  • Damage done while the bathroom was being fitted
  • A failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting
  • A cracked acrylic bath

What your quote should include

  • Whether the price covers travel
  • When it can be used again
  • How to look after the finish
  • Whether a trained technician does the job

Choosing a repair company

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we’ve agreed what we are doing. It usually takes a few hours, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

Advice

Repair or replace: which is better?

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Generally it does not: a repair keeps the bath in service for years, and costs far less than the disruption of a replacement. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send pictures and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Everything repaired in place
  • No extra charge for your area

Aftercare tips

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Check that an acrylic bath doesn’t move when you stand in it
  • Have new chips seen to early

In the first few days, avoid putting weight or bottles on the repair. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine without abrasive products.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.
