Bath repair at your home in Steephill
Whether your bath is steel, cast iron or acrylic, we can repair it. Each material is repaired a little differently: metal baths need any rust dealt with first, and acrylic cracks need support from behind. Whether it’s chips on the rim or sides and hairline or through cracks in acrylic, we can generally put it right, on pressed steel enamel, acrylic and cast iron enamel alike.
Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do.

Steephill: your questions answered
When can you do it?
We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
I tried a repair kit. Can you fix it?
Yes. We take out the old repair and do it properly. Mention it when you send pictures.
Is a holed acrylic bath repairable?
Generally, yes, if we can reach behind it. The hole is backed, filled and refinished to match.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
Is the work guaranteed?
All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.
What if the damage is worse than the photos show?
Your quote covers the damage in the photos. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.
Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?
In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so let us know about it.
Is a bath repair durable?
A properly prepared repair should last a long time, and it’s guaranteed for a year. Gentle cleaning helps it last.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.
For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
Honest limits
It helps to know what we can’t do:
- Metal that has corroded all the way through
- Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
- A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think.
What we work on
- Roll-top & freestanding
- Whirlpool & spa baths

Repair or replace: which is better?
Replacing a bath rarely stops at the bath: tiles along the rim normally crack when it comes out, a new panel is frequently needed, and a plumber has to disconnect and reconnect everything. A repair skips all of it. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

What your bath is made of matters
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
For landlords and businesses
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Steephill as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.
Aftercare tips
Nothing complicated is needed:
- Rinse it down after each bath
- Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
- Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
- Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, as they can leave rust marks. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.
Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.
What we do, step by step
There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will take it from there. The job generally runs to a morning or an afternoon, tidy-up included.
- First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
- Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
- We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
- The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
- Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.
How to prepare
- Let us know which floor the room is on
- Point us to the nearest place to park
- Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £95. You won’t pay by the hour. The price depends on:

- Doing more than one item at once
- How many areas need work
- The material and finish
Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Steephill. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
