Tetney: your questions answered

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

What happens after I send pictures?

We look at the photos and reply with a fixed quote and some dates. If we need another angle, we’ll ask.

Is a bath repair durable?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It carries our one-year guarantee.

What information do you need?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Normally. Send us a photo of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

How much does bath repair cost in Tetney?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed quote based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your DN36 postcode.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

When to call us in Tetney

Glass and heavy bottles cause more chips than anything else. Taps and wastes cause problems too: water sits around them, and any chip there soon rusts.

Most people get in touch when they notice one of these:

  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • A kit repair that didn’t last
  • Chips along the edge of the bath
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic

Questions to ask before booking

  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What happens if they find more damage
  • If travel is included in the price

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Tetney

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

If you manage property in Tetney, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.

Should you replace it?

When the bath is otherwise sound, repairing beats replacing. It costs less, takes less time and causes far less upheaval, and you keep the bath you chose. If the whole surface is worn, re-enamelling may make more sense, and we’ll tell you. Prices start from £95. Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why Tetney customers choose us

When a repair is not the answer

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • Metal that has corroded all the way through

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Acrylic

How it works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the work takes two to three hours for most chips. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We start by cleaning the damage and taking out loose enamel and rust.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. Finish coats go on, then the repair is polished to blend in.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can typically use the bath the next day.

How to prepare

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

How to get a price

Email us photos of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you are in Tetney, and we will reply with a fixed price.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed quote. These are the things that affect it:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The material
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Access to the area

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed quote

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • A wider photo showing the entire bath

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and no obligation.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Composite and resin

Composite baths are dense and solid, and often freestanding. Chips and scratches can be filled and colour-matched, in much the same way.
