Bath repair in Thornton without replacing anything

A typical bath repair is a few hours’ work, and the bath is back in use the following day. You will not need a plumber or tiler, because nothing is disconnected. We regularly repair cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths, and common reasons people get in touch are scuffs and scratches in the surface and rusty patches near the plughole.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something is not right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Looking after it afterwards

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Cover the bath during DIY or decorating
  • A dripping tap stains enamel, so fix it early
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Give the repair the full curing time we recommend before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water can’t get in. Remove it before the repair.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. There’s no area surcharge for Thornton. The price reflects:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Whether we combine several jobs

The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

How to get a fixed price

You can usually get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Any details about the material
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

Thornton: your questions answered

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Can pets and children be at home?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work and until it has cured. The rest of the house is unaffected.

Is a bath repair permanent?

It should, as long as the bath is firm and the area was prepared well. It’s covered by our one-year guarantee.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just ensure the landlord agrees.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Do you repair coloured baths?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including pastel and older colours.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We’ll tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the pictures. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Landlord and trade work in Thornton

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Thornton as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Should you replace it?

A repair makes sense whenever the damage is localised. It costs far less than a new bath plus fitting, it takes one visit, and the bathroom stays exactly as it is. Our bath repair starts from £95. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Why us?

  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • No extra charge for your area
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Exposed steel rusts fast, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

What happens on the day

From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a morning or an afternoon, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. The repair is left to cure, and most baths can be used the day after.

Preparing for the visit

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

What we’re called out for in Thornton

Most bath damage comes from something dropped: a shampoo bottle, a shower head, a tile or a tool during a refit. On enamelled baths, a chip that reaches the metal lets water in, and rust follows.

The things clients usually mention when they call include:

  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Chips under the taps
  • Chips caused by builders
