Bath repair in Trench

How we handle bath repair in Trench

We repair just the damaged spot and colour-match it to the bath, which is far cheaper than replacing a fitted bath and the tiles around it. You can generally use the bath the day after. Common call-outs are for chips along the edge of the bath and an old repair that has yellowed or come loose, on cast iron enamel, pressed steel enamel and whirlpool & spa baths.

Big or small, you get the same one-year guarantee.

Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

Should you replace it?

A new bath costs more than the bath itself: removal and disposal, plumbing, a new panel, tiling and decorating. With a repair, it’s one visit and one price. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Trench. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. These habits help:

  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners

Treat the repaired area like the rest of the bath: warm water, washing-up liquid and a soft cloth. Keep scouring pads and gritty cleaners away from it.

Rust spreads under enamel faster than most people expect. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so it pays to deal with it early.

What we do, step by step

Your technician turns up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a few hours, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Advice

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths are moulded sheet reinforced underneath. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, so it’s always worth repairing.

Do you need bath repair in Trench?

Dropped items cause the majority of chips, and a lot happen during bathroom refits. Cracks in acrylic have a different cause: poor support underneath, so the bath flexes when it’s full.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • A failed DIY repair that is discoloured or lifting
  • A chipped rim or side
  • Chips under the taps
  • Hairline or through cracks in acrylic

Choosing a repair company

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes. The colour is mixed on site to suit your bath, including pastel and older colours.

How much does bath repair cost in Trench?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed quote from your photos. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your TF2 postcode.

Can you repair a hole in a bath?

Generally, yes, if we can reach behind it. We back the hole, fill it and refinish the surface.

When we would advise against a repair

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we can’t get to from below
  • A bath that flexes because its feet or cradle have failed (that needs fixing first)
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
