About our bath repair in Upper Sapey

It pays to repair bath damage while it’s small. On steel and cast iron, exposed metal starts to rust, while cracks in acrylic grow each time the bath moves. Repairing it stops the damage getting worse. Common call-outs are for impact holes in acrylic and rust by the waste and overflow, on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

When we’d advise against a repair

We would rather lose a job than do one that won’t last, so here’s what a repair cannot put right:

  • Cracks in acrylic we cannot reach from underneath
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)

If in doubt, send photos and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Acrylic
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel

How to look after the repair

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent
  • Keep metal cans and razors off the surface

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. And fix dripping taps promptly.

Small chips are quick to repair. Left alone, they stain and can rust, so it’s worth getting them done early.

Landlord and trade work in Upper Sapey

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Upper Sapey as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

What happens on the day

We begin by going over the job with you. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. It normally takes a morning or an afternoon, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. The chip or crack is filled, then sanded level with the bath.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. Once it has cured, usually by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children

Getting a price

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.

What bath repair costs

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Upper Sapey. The price reflects:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What the surface is made of
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many areas need work

The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Quotes from your pictures

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • What it’s made of, if you know

To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We will say right away whether it can be repaired.

Should you replace it?

For damage in one or two places, a repair is the obvious choice. It’s a fraction of the cost of a new bath and fitting, it’s done in one visit, and nothing else in the room changes. Our bath repair starts from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Upper Sapey. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why Upper Sapey clients choose us

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so early repairs matter.

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Upper Sapey: your questions answered

Is the work guaranteed?

All our work carries a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Will the price change on the day?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Do I need to be at home?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. You don’t need to watch us work.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Generally, yes. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.

Can a cracked acrylic bath be fixed?

Normally, yes, if we can reach the underside to reinforce it. Take off the bath panel and check, or send us a photo.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We can work for tenants, landlords or agents. Just make sure the landlord agrees.

How soon can you come?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.
