Bath repair for High Lane homes

Bath repair at your home in High Lane

Bath repair is our most common job. Chips on the rim, rust around the waste and cracks in acrylic are all fixed without removing the bath, normally in a single visit. If you are dealing with deep scratches in acrylic and a chip where the taps sit, we can help.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re covered after the visit.

Bath enamel chip by the waste, filled and colour matched (before and after)

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

Cast iron

Cast iron is heavy and rigid, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, which makes it well worth repairing.

When we’d advise against a repair

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. We cannot fix:

  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Cracks in acrylic we can’t reach from underneath
  • A steel bath rusted through

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

How the visit works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you know when to expect us. Once we are there, the work takes two to three hours for most chips for most jobs. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. We fill the damage and sand it flush with the surrounding surface.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We build up the finish and polish it into the surrounding enamel.
  5. We leave it to cure; you can usually use the bath the day after.

Signs you need bath repair in High Lane

Rust normally starts where water sits, by the plughole, beneath dripping taps or in an unrepaired chip. Water on bare metal causes rust that creeps under the surrounding enamel.

Repairing versus replacing in High Lane

People frequently assume a cracked or chipped bath has to come out. Usually it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Prices start from £95. A repair usually costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we will give you the exact figure.

What you get with us

  • One visit for most repairs
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • No need to remove anything
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

Looking after it afterwards

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Get a dripping tap fixed promptly
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Stick to mild cleaners and a soft cloth

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before running a bath. After that, gentle cleaning keeps it looking good.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, to keep water out. Remove it before the repair.

Questions from High Lane

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.

What about rust by the waste?

Yes. We remove the rust and loose enamel, seal and fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Is there a call-out fee?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Yes, we often do. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Can you repair a chip on a coloured bath?

Yes. We mix the colour on the day to match, including older coloured suites.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are often glad to have it sorted.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.
