Bath repair in Walker Barn

Should you replace it?

Cast iron baths in particular are worth repairing: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. A repair keeps it in place. Prices start from £95. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

What you get with us

About our bath repair in Walker Barn

Small damage on a bath is worth repairing early. Exposed metal on enamelled baths soon rusts, and on acrylic, a crack keeps spreading while the bath flexes. A repair stops both. If you are dealing with a cracked acrylic bath and impact holes in acrylic, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

What affects the price in Walker Barn

Prices start from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. This is what makes a difference:

  • The material
  • Access to the area
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How many items we do on one visit

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Quotes from your pictures

Photographing the damage takes a minute. Please include:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Details of any past repairs
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us photos through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the whole bath, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.

Different materials, different repairs

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There is no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Pressed steel

Steel baths are lighter than cast iron, but have a similar enamel surface. Chips rust quickly on steel, especially around the waste, so early repairs matter.

When we would advise against a repair

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • A bath worn all over, where resurfacing makes more sense
  • Leaking fittings, which need a plumber

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic
  • Whirlpool & spa baths

Your questions about bath repair in Walker Barn

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, which is why we ventilate. It clears as the materials cure.

Is there a call-out fee?

There is no separate call-out charge. Your fixed quote includes everything.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a bath in good condition, a colour-matched repair is very hard to spot. On worn enamel, it can look shinier than the rest.

Can rust on a bath be repaired?

Yes. We take out the rust and any loose enamel, fill the area, then colour-match the finish.

Is a cracked acrylic bath repairable?

In most cases. We reinforce the crack from behind, then fill and refinish the front, so access behind the panel is important.

Do you hold any accreditations?

We are accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes, and it’s frequently cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

Work for landlords and builders

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

How the visit works

We turn up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes a few hours, depending on the damage, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First, we check the damage against your photos and agree the plan.
  2. Any rust and loose material comes out, and the area is degreased.
  3. We build up the filler in layers, shaping it to the bath.
  4. The colour is tinted by hand until it matches.
  5. Finally, it’s polished to match the shine and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Ensure the area is dry
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

How to get a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Aftercare tips

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale
  • Ensure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Protect the bath with a towel when doing jobs nearby

Use gentle, non-abrasive cleaners and try not to drop heavy bottles on the repair. Deal with new chips early, before rust sets in.

Do not leave a chip on a steel or cast iron bath. Water gets to the metal and rust starts, and a rust spot is a bigger repair than a clean chip.
