Trusted bath repair in Watcombe

Bath repair at your home in Watcombe

A damaged bath does not have to mean a new bathroom. Our repair technicians fill, shape and refinish the damage, with the colour mixed on site so the repair is hard to spot. We are often asked to fix a failed DIY repair that’s discoloured or lifting and snagging damage from a refit, across acrylic, pressed steel enamel and cast iron enamel.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll sort it.

Before and after: a damaged acrylic bath corner repaired in place

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

How to care for the repair

Aftercare is simple:

  • Store metal items away from the bath
  • Make sure an acrylic bath is firm underfoot
  • Get any new chip repaired before it rusts
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

Leave the repair to cure for as long as we say before using the bath. From then on, mild cleaning is all it needs.

Tape over a fresh chip or crack until it’s repaired, so water can’t get in. Take it off before we arrive.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, with a fused enamel surface. Chips can rust if left, but the body of the bath lasts a very long time, which makes it well worth repairing.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Common questions in Watcombe

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before and we will plan for it.

Can tenants book a repair?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Will I be able to see the repair?

On a glossy bath, you’ll struggle to find it. On older, dull enamel the repair can look glossier than the area around it.

Can you match an avocado or pink bath?

Yes, we match coloured baths too. The colour is tinted by hand on the day.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.

When can I have a bath again?

Usually the following day. We’ll tell you the exact curing time when we finish.

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we’ll do the rest.

How it works

When we visit, the technician arrives at the agreed time, protects the room with dust sheets and masking and gets started. Expect it to take two to three hours for most chips. We tidy up before we leave and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. We clean the area and remove any loose enamel or rust.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We tint the finish on the day to suit your bath’s shade of white or colour.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready to use.

How to prepare

  • Open a window if you can
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

What bath repair costs

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The type of damage
  • The material
  • How many areas need work
  • Whether we combine several jobs

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • One picture of the entire bath
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we will handle the rest.

If you manage property in Watcombe, we will quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.

When a repair isn’t the answer

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • Leaks from the waste or overflow fittings (a plumber’s job)
  • A steel bath rusted through
  • A whole bath that is dull or worn, where a full re-enamel is the better fix

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before booking.

What we work on

  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic
  • Cast iron enamel

Repairing versus replacing in Watcombe

Cast iron baths especially are worth keeping: getting one out, particularly from an upstairs bathroom, is a big job, and replacing like for like isn’t cheap. Repairing it leaves it where it is. Prices start from £95. Compared with replacing, repairing typically costs far less, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Why us?

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • No extra charge for your area
