Most of our bath repairs take a few hours, and the bath is back in use the following day. You won’t need a plumber or tiler, because the bath does not move. DIY kit or professional repair?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

When we’d advise against a repair

Some jobs are not right for a repair, for example:

  • A steel bath rusted through
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath
  • Wear across the whole surface, which needs re-enamelling

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Westoning

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Acrylic

How to care for the repair

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Keep abrasive pads and gritty cleaners away from the bath
  • Rinse the bath after use, especially in hard water areas
  • Have new chips seen to early
  • Clean with warm water and a mild detergent

For the first few days, keep heavy bottles off the repaired spot. After that, normal gentle cleaning is fine.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. Left for months, a small chip can grow into a large rust patch, so early repair keeps the cost down.

For landlords and businesses

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, photos and access details and we’ll handle the rest.

What happens on the day

You do not need to empty the room beforehand. We bring everything we need with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. Most jobs take two to three hours for most chips, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. First, the area is cleaned and any loose enamel or rust is removed.
  2. Next we fill the damage and sand it smooth and level.
  3. We mix the colour on the day to match your bath’s exact shade.
  4. We apply the finish coats and polish the repair so it blends in.
  5. Once it has cured, typically by the day after, the bath is ready to use.

Before we arrive

  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Why repair rather than replace?

Many people think a damaged bath means a new one. In most cases it does not: a proper repair gives it years more use, without the cost and upheaval of replacing it. Our bath repair starts from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

An acrylic bath is a moulded sheet strengthened from below. There’s no rust, but cracks, holes and scratches happen, and cracks need support from behind to stay fixed.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are thick and very strong, finished with fired enamel. A chip down to the iron can rust, but the bath itself lasts for generations, so it’s always worth repairing.

What we’re called out for in Westoning

Acrylic baths that crack nearly always have a support problem. Legs that are not adjusted, a missing cradle or a soft floor let the base flex until the acrylic gives way.

People usually call us when they notice something like this:

  • Rusty patches near the plughole
  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • Holes from dropped items

What your quote should include

  • How long it needs to cure
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
