Bath repair in Wixoe

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. Most visits take two to three hours for most chips, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We start by looking at the damage and confirming the plan with you.
  2. Loose enamel, rust and dirt are removed so the repair can bond.
  3. The damage is filled in layers and shaped to the curve of the bath.
  4. We tint the finish by hand to match the bath.
  5. The repair is polished to the same gloss as the bath and left to cure.

Before we arrive

  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

How we handle bath repair in Wixoe

Chips, cracks, rust spots and small holes can be repaired with the bath left exactly where it is. There’s no plumbing to disconnect, the tiles aren’t touched, and the finish is matched to the rest of the bath. We work on pressed steel enamel, whirlpool & spa baths and roll-top & freestanding, and the jobs we see most are an old repair that has yellowed or come loose and a chip where the taps sit.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

DIY kit or professional repair?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Landlords, agents and businesses in Wixoe

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which matters when someone is living in the home.

What a repair can’t fix

A repair isn’t right for every job, for example:

  • Flexing caused by a failed cradle or loose feet
  • Cracks in parts of an acrylic bath we cannot get to from below
  • Water coming from the waste or taps rather than the bath

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Pressed steel enamel
  • Roll-top & freestanding
  • Whirlpool & spa baths
  • Cast iron enamel
  • Acrylic

FAQs for Wixoe

What happens next?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your pictures and we will quote them together.

Something went through my bath. Can it be fixed?

Typically. Send us a photo of the hole and one from under the bath if you can.

Can you repair a failed DIY repair?

Yes, we do this often. We strip it out, deal with any rust and repair it again.

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

How soon can you come?

We will give you dates with your quote. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Are there extra charges for Wixoe?

There is no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Why repair rather than replace?

If the rest of the bath is in good condition, a repair is almost always the better choice. It’s quicker, cheaper and far less disruptive, and you keep the bath you chose. Where the whole surface is tired, we may suggest re-enamelling instead. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Wixoe. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Why us?

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Pressed steel is thinner and lighter, with an enamel finish like cast iron. Chips rust quickly on steel, particularly by the plughole, so repair chips early.

Cast iron

A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.

When to call us in Wixoe

Heavy toiletries are the biggest single cause of chips, closely followed by shower heads. Fittings cause damage too: water collects there, so chips nearby rust quickly.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • A chip where the taps sit
  • Rust by the waste and overflow
  • Cracks in an acrylic bath
  • A hole punched through by something heavy

What to look for in a quote

  • How long it needs to cure
  • Whether they match the colour on site
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?

Choosing a repair company

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best:

  • Don’t leave a fresh chip for long
  • Rinse it down after each bath
  • Avoid scourers, wire wool and gritty cream cleaners
  • Fix dripping taps early to stop staining and limescale

Keep metal objects like razors and cans off the surface, because they can mark the enamel. A dripping tap should be fixed early, too.

Rust under enamel spreads surprisingly quickly. A chip the size of a fingernail can become a much larger patch if it’s left for months, so it pays to deal with it early.
