Need bath resealing in Ardingly?

How we handle bath resealing in Ardingly

A proper reseal starts with removing every trace of the old silicone. Fresh sealant does not stick to old, which is why many DIY jobs peel. We work on basins & vanity units, wet rooms and baths, and people most often call us about silicone smeared on tiles and black mould in the sealant.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee in Ardingly and across West Sussex.

Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best:

  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Let steam out after showers
  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Give the seal a regular clean

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally around 24 hours.

Black mould in sealant is not just unsightly. Resealing early keeps water out of the walls and floor.

Resealing in Ardingly: why it matters

Resealing costs very little. Leaving failed sealant can let water cause damage that costs far more to fix. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

The process

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which generally takes a couple of hours. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. The joint is cleaned, treated and dried.
  4. Fresh silicone is applied in a continuous bead.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Different materials, different repairs

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Signs you need bath resealing in Ardingly

Joints split if the bath or tray moves, frequently because it was sealed with the bath empty.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • Water getting behind the bath or tray
  • A messy previous reseal

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • How your room will be protected
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show

Questions from Ardingly

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

How do I book?

Some pictures, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders in Ardingly.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

No, we never seal over old silicone. It’s removed, cleaned off and the joint dried first.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

Do you cover the entire of West Sussex?

We cover the whole UK, including Ardingly and the rest of West Sussex. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will offer you dates.

Why does my sealant keep splitting?

The bath or tray is probably flexing. If it keeps happening, the support may need fixing.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there is more, we will tell you before starting.
