Bath resealing for Ash homes

How we handle bath resealing in Ash

We reseal baths, shower trays, basins and worktops using mould-resistant silicone. Most jobs take a couple of hours, then it needs to cure. Our repair technicians work on kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures, and people most often call us about sealant that’s split or lifting and black spots in the silicone.

All our work is covered by a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Somerset.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

Different materials, different repairs

Baths

We fill the bath before sealing, so the joint is at its widest.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

What happens on the day

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a couple of hours. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. The surrounding area is protected and the joints masked.
  2. We remove the old sealant and every trace of residue.
  3. We clean, treat and dry the joint.
  4. We run a continuous bead of new silicone.
  5. The bead is smoothed, the tape removed and the seal left to cure.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

What we cannot put right

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits too:

  • A flexing bath
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Rotten walls or floors behind the bath

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Materials we work on in Ash

  • Wet rooms
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units
  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks

Aftercare tips

So the finish stays in good condition:

  • Let steam out after showers
  • Store bottles on a shelf
  • Dry the seal after bathing
  • Reseal when black spots won’t clean off

Keep the room well ventilated, and wipe the joints after use so mould struggles to take hold.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Gaps or lifting edges mean it needs doing.

Is resealing worth it?

Resealing is a small job. Putting off a reseal can let water reach the walls and floor, and that damage costs much more to fix. Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Ash. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What you get with us

  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Work done at your home or business
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Same prices wherever you are

Choosing a repair company

Work for landlords and builders

Builders use us to fix snagging damage before handover. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.
