Bath resealing in Atlantic Wharf

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Bath resealing in Atlantic Wharf, done in place

Resealing is quick, but it transforms the look. Fresh joints make the entire room look cleaner, and they keep water out. Whether it’s black mould in the sealant and sealant that’s split or lifting, we can help, on kitchen worktops & sinks, baths and shower trays & enclosures alike.

You are covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

The process

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes around two hours. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. We remove the residue and clean the joint.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. We fill the bath, or weight the tray, to open the joint.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.

How to prepare

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Open a window if you can
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Related advice

When a repair is not the answer

Before you book, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Hidden water damage
  • Tiles that move, until they’re refixed

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Shower trays & enclosures
  • Wet rooms
  • Kitchen worktops & sinks
  • Baths
  • Basins & vanity units

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. Our advice:

  • Wipe the joints dry after use
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Use the extractor fan
  • Reseal at the first sign of lifting

Use the extractor fan, wipe the joints dry after use, and give them a regular clean with a mild cleaner to slow mould growth.

If you notice damp, stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles, act quickly. It may be more than a reseal, so we’ll tell you if it needs a builder or plumber.

What bath resealing costs

You will know the full cost before you book. We take into account:

  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How many areas need work

Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed price

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Please include:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the whole bath or shower
  • Where you are, by postcode

Getting a price is easy: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Atlantic Wharf: your questions answered

Do you come to Atlantic Wharf?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and come to Atlantic Wharf. Send us pictures for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Typically, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Why does the silicone keep cracking?

Generally because the bath or tray moves, or it was sealed with the bath empty. We seal baths full of water.

How long will it take?

Usually a couple of hours, plus curing time.

What happens if you find more damage?

If we find something the pictures didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Typically, yes. The old repair comes out first.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders.

Do you seal over the old sealant?

All the old sealant comes out. New silicone won’t bond to old.

Black mould is the most common reason people reseal. It grows into the silicone, so cleaning can’t get it all out.

People normally call us when they notice one of these:

  • Unsealed corners
  • Silicone coming away from the tiles
  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • A messy previous reseal

10 questions to ask before you book

Is resealing worth it?

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It soon peels, and traps mould underneath. We remove the old sealant completely. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Atlantic Wharf. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
