Bath resealing in Bangor

How we handle bath resealing in Bangor

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Then the fresh sealant goes on, as one neat, continuous bead. We’re often asked to fix mould you can’t clean out and an untidy old seal, on kitchen worktops & sinks, basins & vanity units and shower trays & enclosures.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Bangor and across North Down.

Do you need bath resealing in Bangor?

Sealant splits when the bath or tray moves, frequently because it was sealed with the bath empty.

Look out for any of the following:

  • Discoloured, yellow sealant
  • Gaps in the seal
  • Black mould in the sealant
  • An untidy old seal

Our hiring checklist

Repairs by material

Sinks and worktops

We reseal basins, vanity tops and kitchen worktops, with the joint fully dried first.

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, for the same reason.

What we cannot put right

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. We can’t fix:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • A flexing bath
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

FAQs for Bangor

Which areas do you work in?

Across the UK, so Bangor is covered. Prices don’t change with location.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

How do I book?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

What happens once I’ve sent pictures?

We review the pictures and send a fixed quote with dates.

Can landlords book you?

We do, regularly. We quote for multiple addresses and fit around tenancy changeovers.

What bath resealing costs

We give every job a fixed quote from photos. This is what makes a difference:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Access to the area

The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

Quotes from your pictures

Phone pictures are fine. Just ensure we can see:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

For most jobs, pictures are all we need to give you a price. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is normally the cheaper route.

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We clean and key the area properly, mix the colour to your surface and finish it to the same sheen, and the work is guaranteed.

Resealing in Bangor: why it matters

A professional reseal costs little compared with water damage. It’s quick, tidy and protects your home. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send pictures and we’ll give you the exact figure.

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Let steam out after showers
  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Run the extractor fan during and after showers
  • Dry the seal after bathing

Let it cure fully before using the bath or shower, normally about a day.

Don’t wait until water gets behind the bath. Split or lifting sealant is a sign it’s time.

The process

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes about two hours for a bath. Before we leave, we explain the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. The old silicone is cut out completely.
  2. Residue is removed and the joint cleaned.
  3. Any mould is treated and the joint dried.
  4. The bath is filled with water, or weight put on the tray.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone is applied and tooled neatly.
