Batchworth questions

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire bath or shower and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Why does mould come back so fast?

Damp is the cause. Ventilation and drying keep it clean longer.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Nearly always. If pictures don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

What happens next?

You’ll get a fixed quote back, plus dates. There’s no obligation to book.

Do the materials smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Open windows and an extractor fan help.

Is there a call-out fee?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

About our bath resealing in Batchworth

Preparation is everything in a reseal: every bit of old silicone out, mould treated, the joint clean and dry. Only then does the new sealant go on, in a neat, continuous bead. Typical jobs include stained silicone and gaps by the taps, in wet rooms, basins & vanity units and kitchen worktops & sinks.

Whatever the size of the job, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee.

Prices and what affects them

Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • Access to the area
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Quotes from your pictures

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A picture taken from further back
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you will get a fixed price back. There is no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.

Why it’s worth resealing in Batchworth

Putting new silicone over old does not last. It soon peels, and mould stays trapped behind it. A proper reseal removes the old first. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

Why Batchworth customers choose us

  • Fixed prices from your pictures
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish

How it works

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow about two hours for a bath from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. All the old sealant is cut out and removed.
  2. Next we clean the joint and deal with mould.
  3. We ensure the joint is completely dry.
  4. We fill a bath with water before sealing so the gap is at its widest.
  5. New mould-resistant silicone goes on and is tooled to a neat finish, taps included.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Shower trays

We put weight on a tray before sealing it, so the joint is at its widest.

Sinks and worktops

Basins, vanity units and kitchen worktops are resealed too, with the joint fully dried first.

Looking after it afterwards

After the repair has cured, a few habits help it last:

  • Keep bottles off the joints
  • Replace the seal when mould sets in
  • Open a window after bathing
  • Clean the sealant gently and regularly

Do not scrape the sealant with anything sharp, and don’t stand bottles on the seal.

Mouldy sealant is more than a cosmetic problem. An early reseal keeps water where it belongs.

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Batchworth use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Honest limits

Not everything can be repaired, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Gaps too big for silicone alone
  • Loose tiles, which need refixing first
  • Movement in the bath or tray

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.
